What is WhirliWick…
WHIRLIWICK is a one-of-a-kind candle topper. The unique patent pending technology spins and glows using only candle heat. Watch this VIDEO to see WHIRLIWICK ornament in action.
How does WhirliWick work…
Each WHIRLIWICK candle topper contains a thermo-electric generator; this means it can harness heat energy and then convert it into electrical energy. The converted electrical energy is used to rotate the fragrance fan and power the high-output LEDs.
Will WhirliWick fit other candles…
Yes…our candle toppers will fit a variety of common container candles such as those from Yankee Candle®, both medium and large Classic Jar Candles. When using other candle brands, ensure they are the same jar size as the original WHIRLIWICK candles.
DO NOT use on any multi-wick candles. DO NOT use if your WHIRLIWICK candle topper doesn’t properly fit on the candle rim of the jar. Improper use can result in damage to the internal thermal mechanisms.
Why is WhirliWick rotating slowly…
WHIRLIWICK operates using flame heat; a larger candle flame means the hotter the flame and the faster WHIRLIWICK spins. If a flame is small then there is less heat generated and most likely caused by a short candle wick. This may be the result of cutting the wick too short or it accidentally breaking off. To correct a short wick a small amount of wax can be removed from the candle. While the wax is warm pour the liquid wax into a disposable container–remember the wax is hot so be careful. With less wax in the candle the flame can burn larger and hotter. Wipe clean any liquid wax from the jar or lip of the candle.
If the wick becomes too short then the candle cannot get hot enough to fully melt the wax to the edges. It is important to remember that soy wax candles have memory. Always burn a candle until it achieves a full wax melt pool before extinguishing. A full melt pool is when the wax is melted across the entire top of candle; this establishes the wax memory allowing it to continue to burn well.
If the fan or ornament STOPS spinning for any reason, extinguish candle immediately.
Why is the smell different from the candle’s scent…
Every WHIRLIWICK candle topper is tuned and heat tested before being packaged. However, the toppers may still require a longer break-in cycle for paints and components to fully set. Any smells may be noticeable at the first lighting but will fade after a couple cycles of burning the candle.
How should a used candle be recycled…
Once a candle is finished it is easily recyclable, but must be cleaned first. The WHIRLIWICK plastic cap is PET, meaning it can be recycled with other household containers and requires no additional cleaning. The glass jar however contains leftover wax that needs to be removed. Place the candle in the freezer overnight to chill the wax. Then using a long tool like a flathead screwdriver, push into the wax several times to crack it apart around the wick. Continuing this process cracking the wax into large removable pieces and separating it from the glass. After removing the wax pieces then the label and wick tab remain; these can be soaked in hot water for several hours to make removal easier. Any remaining wax can be wiped off the jar walls using a disposable cloth. The jar can now be repurposed or recycled with other glass containers.
